Del Mar Fair at night : Welcome to my photos of the 2007 Del Mar Fair. I shot all photos at night and without the luxury of a tripod or monopod. They are not allowed for safety reasons. I love the fair at night as all the lights from the rides and sideshows just make the place come to life. Plus, it allows for a little more creativity. I hope you enjoy the sights.

Sycuan Pow Wow 2007 : These photos are from the Sycuan Pow Wow during the weekend of September 7th,8th, and 9th, 2007. I decided to go because I knew it would be a wonderful event with lots of colorful native clothing that would be a good opportunity from a photographers perspective. There were several tribes represented and lots of contests in dance, drumming and singing. Along with being able to take some beautiful photos, I enjoyed learning more about the different cultures and how they celebrate and maintain their traditions. I was very touched by their spirituality and how important their culture, ancestory and family are to them. I feel blessed to have them share these traditions with anyone who wishes to come and watch and listen. If you ever get a chance to go and see a pow-wow in your area, I highly suggest that you do.
There are lots of photos as I found it hard to just pick a few. There were so many beautiful and different styles represented from the various tribes.

San Diego Auto Show December 2007 : This is by no means a full representation of all of the cars that were on exhibit at the 2008 model San Diego Auto Show. This is just a few of the more interesting highlights that I decided to capture.

The Midway Museum : The carrier Midway was decommissioned and turned into a museum at San Diego Harbor. These are just a few pictures I took and the day I went aboard. You defintinitely should take time to see this as these pictures do not do it justice in it's sheer size and all of the history it represents.

Butterfly Exhibit/March 2008 : The San Diego Wild Animal Park had a butterfly exhibit for 3 weeks this spring. Most were all indigenous to South Africa. It was truly an amazing experience to walk in and be among all the beautiful butterflies. I have tried to name as many as I could. If you know of the name of one that has not been labeled, please feel free to leave a comment with the name of the butterfly.

Red Bull Air Races 2008 : The Red Bull Air Races took place the first weekend in May. With the exception of it being, for the most part, an overcast day, it was definitely something to behold. The way the pilots navigate the course with the precision and speed that they do is amazing and must be seen to believe. Pylons full of air are set up in the bay area between Coronado Island and the Seaport Village/Embarcadero. They have to corner around the pylons, then go in between them in an obstacle course fashion. There are small sharp edges on the end of the wings so if they get too close, they will puncture a pylon and lose points. These photos are from the day of the finals and were shot from Coronado Island looking towards downtown San Diego. The overcast sky does nothing for the background, but it is about the planes and pilots anyway.
